Lake Erie Regional Grape Program Home Page Updated 9/24/2009

Grape growers must contend with a variety of insect, disease, weed, viral and vertebrate pests. Since 1989 the major focus of the grape pest management effort in New York State has been an Integrated Pest Management (IPM) approach. The successful implementation of IPM depends on a number of factors including:  proper pest identification for all stages of the life cycle, identification of symptoms or damage, correct timing for management of the pest, the knowledge of the management strategies that are available and a basic understanding of the growth and development of the grape vine itself.

The NYS Grape IPM web site has been constructed to provide grape growers in the Lake Erie region of New York and Pennsylvania and the Finger Lakes Region of New York the information needed to implement. While IPM strategies in their vineyards, much of the information is useful to other geographical areas, please check with your local extension office on specific pest management strategies.

Learning Opportunities:

In an effort to assist members of New York's farm community with influenza-related questions, the New York Center for Agricultural Medicine and Health (NYCAMH) has prepared informational posters for both employers and employees in both English and Spanish.  The PDF versions of these posters are attached here {H1N1 Flu, english poster and H1N1 Flu, spanish poster} and also at http://www.nycamh.com.   {Look in the " Farm safety materials " poster section of the website.  They are listed alphabetically as "Swine flu safety".}
