Crop Estimation and Crop Thinning Demonstration
When: July 14, 2009; 9am - 2pm
Where*: Fredonia Vineyard Lab
Cost: $10 for members of the program, $25 for non-members
Lunch will be provided.
Crop estimation is an important tool in your vineyard management practices. Estimating your crop around 30 days post bloom can help balance vines, lead to consistent cropping levels, and make other management decisions.
The LERGP will host a workshop beginning with a seminar by Dr. Terry Bates on crop estimation and crop thinning followed by a demonstration at the Fredonia Vineyard Lab of estimation and thinning techniques with the following :
- By hand
- Pull-behind Gregoire® harvester
- Korvan® self-propelled harvester
- Oxbo® tractor-mounted fruit thinning head
