What to be doing (Bud burst: green shoot first clearly visible):
Finish up pruning - Watch Pruning Concords Video below (bottom of page):

Weed management - pre-emergent program

Scouting for pests, e.g.,
Banded Grape Bug,
Climbing Cutworm,
Grape Flea Beetle (Steely Beetle),
Phomopsis
Prepare equipment - calibrate sprayers before each use, which will begin as early as mid- to late spring

PEST MANAGEMENT

3" - 6" shoot growth:
Start disease management protocol for Vinifera and varieties highly susceptible to powdery mildew;
Start post-infection disease management protocol for varieties with moderate susceptibility to powdery mildew and high susceptibility to black rot;
Start primary-season protectant disease management protocol for vineyards with a history of severe Phomopsis, downy mildew, and/or black rot infections or vineyards with severe disease pressure the previous year.
MONITORING REQUIRED: weather parameters of temperature, precipitation and leaf wetness; grape cane gallmaker

10" - 12" shoot growth:
Start postinfection disease management protocol for varieties with low susceptibility to powdery muldew moderate to low susceptibility to black rot, and no severe disease problems the previous year;
MONITORING REQUIRED: weather parameters of temperature, precipitation and leaf wetness; Eutypa dieback; banded grape bug

Immediate Prebloom:
IPM Practices to be implemented: Scouting for leafhopper; continue disease management protocols; check protocols to determine where protectant fungicide is required.
